Friend,
This week’s lesson is drawn from John C. Maxwell’s insights on leadership:
“The heart of leadership is serving others first, before yourself.”
Leadership isn’t about titles or recognition; it’s about making a positive impact on the lives of others. To lead effectively, it’s essential to cultivate the right mindset and prioritize what truly matters.
Three Habits:
1. Perform Small Acts of Kindness
Start with those closest to you. Find ways today to do small things that show other people that you care. Even the smallest act of kindness can have a positive impact in the lives of others.
2. Learn to Walk Slowly Through the Crowd
The next time you attend a social or corporate event, make it your goal to connect with others by circulating among them slowly. Focus on each person you meet. Learn the names of those you don’t already know. Aim to learn about each person’s needs, wants and desires. Spending genuine time with others creates not only the desire to serve them, but the connection and know-how to serve them well.
3. Move into Action
Start serving. Feelings follow footsteps—if you begin serving with your body, your heart eventually catched up! Keep at it until your heart honestly desires to serve others well.
Your Action Steps for This Week
1. Reflect on Your Leadership Style: Ask yourself, Am I prioritizing people over personal gain?
2. Serve Someone Today: Find one practical way to help a team member, friend, or family member succeed.
3. Empower Growth: Identify someone in your life with untapped potential and take steps to mentor or support him/her.
Remember: Leadership is less about being in charge and more about caring for those you lead. By valuing people, serving with a genuine heart, and focusing on their potential, you can inspire transformation and make a lasting difference.
Here’s to leading with heart and purpose!
All the best,
Alex Rășcanu
P.S. What servant leadership habit(s) will you prioritize this week? I’d appreciate reading your thoughts.
